  2007 Events

Global Challenge UK saw another amazing year ever in 2007. GCUK worked with a host of charities throughout the year where we either event managed or supported them on their Challenge Events. Please see below, or have a look at the Case Studies for further details of some of the things Global Challenge UK got up to in 2007!

The Railway Children Great Train Challenge - 18th May

2007 saw Global Challenge UK supporting or event managing four events on behalf of the Railway Children, and the Great Train Adventure was as exciting as any! Set in the stunning grounds of Sunningdale Park, 14 teams competed in the inaugural running of this event on behalf of the Railway Children. All participants were on the go from very early on the day carrying out a variety of challenges on foot, on two wheels, on four wheels and in water! Their 'on the day' score was added to their funds raised to produce the overall winners.......outstanding!

The National Deaf Children's Society 3 Peaks Challenges - 2nd - 3rd June & 22nd - 23rd September

Global Challenge UK thoroughly enjoyed working with the NDCS again in 2007. GCUK supported their 3 Peaks Challenges, by providing all of the communications and control at each location throughout these events, along with ensuring that highly experienced mountain leaders marshaled all of the 3 peaks.

The Railway Children 3 Peaks Challenge by train - 7th - 9th June

After the successes of the last 3 years running of The Railway Children 3 peaks Challenge by rail, Global Challenge UK once again provided our full communications & event management support for 2007. GCUK not only provided all of the communications support and challenge bases at each location but also experienced Event Managers travelling on the train with the teams ensuring that the event ran as smoothly & safely as ever.

The Railway Children Brecon Challenge - 23rd June

Once again the Railway Children teamed up with Global Challenge UK on this exciting challenge. The Brecon Challenge provided a challenge to teams on two levels. The main focus for the participating teams was to raise funds on behalf of the Railway Children. In addition, the days activities saw them mountain biking on the Taff trail, walking the Pen-y-Fan horseshoe and raft-building on one of the prettiest reservoirs in Wales, all within 12 hours. GCUK were delighted to be working with the Railway Children again and event managed this exciting event on their behalf. Prior to, and throughout the event we brought our expertise to the fore ensuring that all of the usual safety personnel & marshals were on hand as well as our radio control network from Challenge Base. The participants were rewarded with an after event reception and disco, along with knowing that they supported such a worthy cause.

The Mitchemp Trust 3 Peaks Challenge - 30th June - 1st July

Our longstanding partnership with the Miitchemp Trust continued. GCUK provided communications & logistics support to the Mitchemp Trust on their 3 Peaks Challenge, ensuring that the participating teams competed the challenge in a safe manner whilst raising funds for this worthwhile charity.

The Lloyd's Register 24 Peaks Challenge in support of Seafarers UK - 7th - 8th July

Following the successful running of their 3 Peaks Challenge in 2005, and building upon the success of the inaugural running of the Seafarers UK 24 peaks challenge in 2006, Global Challenge UK entirely event managed the 24 peaks challenge again this year. GCUK brought their experience and expertise to this challenge, ensuring that all of the team's safety was paramount whilst taking part, providing briefings, equipment lists, advice on training etc. before the event and all of the control, communications and marshalling during the weekend. Even the after challenge reception dinner & disco (for those that had energy still to spare!) was catered for. This was a tough event for the participating teams who were challenged to climb 24 peaks over 2,400ft in 24 hours!

The National Deaf Children's Society 24 Peaks Challenge 14th & 15th July

Global Challenge UK supported the NDCS once again as they ran this tough challenge, by providing all of the safety & communications cover as we do on their other events, along with providing very experienced mountain leaders along the length of the routes.

The British Red Cross 3 Peaks Challenge - 28th - 29th July

Global Challenge UK event managed the first ever running of the British Red Cross 3 Peaks challenge. We were extremely happy work with the Bristish Red Cross bringing our experience and expertise to their challenge, which saw participating teams climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike & Snowdon all within 24 hours! GCUK ensured that all of the teams' safety was paramount whilst taking part, providing briefings, equipment lists, advice on training etc. before the event and all of the control, communications and marshalling during the weekend. Certificates & awards were presented at the 'after challenge reception dinner & disco' held at Llanberis.

The Lord Mayor's Appeal 3 Peaks Challenge - 1st - 2nd September

Global Challenge UK were asked to event manage the Lord Mayor's Appeal 3 Peaks challenge, where the participant's funds raised enabled the Lord Mayor’s four chosen charities to make a difference to cross-border learning and to education on a global scale. VSO were the main beneficiary of the Appeal. Other charities that benefitted were the Mansion House Scholarship scheme, the Guild of Educators and King Edwards School, Witley. As we do for all of our events, we provided expert event management prior to, and on the event ensuring that all teams had an exhilirating and safe challenge!

The Railway Children 24 Peaks Challenge - 8th - 9th September

After the successes of their 3 Peaks Challenges for the last 3 years, Global Challenge UK entirely event managed a 24 peaks challenge for the Railway Children in 2007. GCUK brought their experience and expertise to this challenge, ensuring that all of the team's safety was paramount whilst taking part, providing briefings, equipment lists, advice on training etc. before the event and all of the control, communications and marshalling during the weekend. Even the after challenge reception dinner & disco (for those with energy left to spare!) was catered for. This is a tough event for the participating teams who were challenged to climb 24 peaks over 2,400ft in 24 hours!

The Mitchemp Trust 24 Peaks Challenge - 29th - 30th September

The Mitchemp Trust extended their portfolio of events by adding a 24 Peaks Challenge to their already successful 3 Peaks. GCUK event managed this tough challenge on their behalf providing all of the communications & logistics support as well as the safety marshaling and briefing, ensuring that the participating teams completed the challenge in a safe manner whilst raising funds for this worthwhile charity.

We would like to congratulate all of the participants on these events. We hope that you thoroughly enjoyed the experience and raised as much funds as possible through all of your hard work for these very worthwhile charities.
