Pfizer Ltd. sponsored the inaugural running of the Pfizer Brecon Challenge 2004, in aid of
Air Ambulances across the UK.
The fundraising Challenge was for each team to raise at least £2,500, which was distributed to
various regional Air Ambulances across the UK.
The physical Challenge was for all teams to climb Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in the
Brecons, mountain bike a 20km route and design & build a raft that they had to paddle around a
nearby reservoir. All within 12 hours!
32 teams took part in the event on the 17th July 2004. Not only did Pfizer sponsor the
Challenge, but also all of the teams were made up of Pfizer employees making it a great corporate
event for them.
All of the participants had a tremendous day out and many teams exceeded their fundraising
target, together raising a staggering total in excess of £105,000 on behalf of the
Air Ambulance.
The Brecon Challenge was conceived, planned and managed by Global Challenge UK,
specialists in the field of outdoor events that are designed to be used by charities to raise
funds for their work.
