Lloyds Register sponsored this most challenging of events,
climbing 24 Peaks, over 2,400 feet, within 24 hours, the
entire route within the beautiful English Lake District. Each
team was required to raise at least £5,000.
A total of 34 teams undertook this Challenge in 2007, and
despite a tough and strenuous timetable managed to raise
more than £250,000, one team achieving a mind-blowing
£58,000!
Weather conditions on the 1st day were rainy and misty,
which meant that the need for navigation skills came
into their own. However, on day 2, the sun came out
and teams were treated to the splendour of the
Cumbrian countryside. Even given the demands of this
difficult event, there was much positive feedback and a
sense of great individual and team satisfaction.
Global Challenge UK designed, planned and implemented
the event and is a specialist in the planning and
management of outdoor events specifically designed for
charities to raise funds.
“The whole event was amazing. It was extremely tough and harder than I could have imagined.
But the rewards were excellent and the sense of achievement unbelievable. The feeling of cheer
and joy to complete it in under 24 hours was out of this world. We were all on a high for several
days. The best event I have taken part in and probably ever will!”
Andrew Oxley, Dorchester Atlantic Maritime Ltd.
“The 24 Peaks was a really challenging, but also fascinating experience in a beautiful landscape
and very well organised! A big thank you from BS INVEST Wanderlust to the teams from
Seafarers UK and Global Challenge – you did an excellent job!”
Christina Neison, BS Invest
“The 24 Peaks was the most difficult, but rewarding event I have ever taken part in. The team
building and new friends you acquire are the best aspects. I have now completed it two years
running!”
Sarah Walsh, Lloyd's Register
“The challenge was a personal success for me as two years ago I was overweight and unfit and
would not have made the first hill. It was tough but exhilarating and the sense of achievement is
incredible. Because of this challenge I have now taken up hill walking, it's great!"
Alan Fairney, Maritime & Coastguard Agency
