"Champions know there are no shortcuts to the top. They climb the mountain one step at a time. They have no use for helicopters!"
Judi Adler
Open Brecon Beacons "Top 10" Challenge 7 July 2012
This exciting event takes place solely in the Brecon Beacons National Park. This challenge event is a must for individuals new to hill walking
and keen mountain walkers alike, providing a unique opportunity to climb 10 well known peaks in the Brecons, in 10 hours whilst savouring the delights
and stunning scenery that the National Park has to offer. The Brecon Beacons are named after the ancient practice of lighting signal fires (beacons) on
mountains to warn of attacks by the English, or more recently to commemorate public and national events such as coronations or the Millennium.
Sign up as an individual or recruit a small team from existing supporters, friends and colleagues or simply 'fit' mates from your local pub/club.
All participants will be allocated to a team (ensuring mixed ability/experience) and advised prior to the day. Each team will consist of approximately 8 walkers.
For those wishing to stay the night before or after the day, accommodation lists will be provided and preferential rates offered where possible.
Based close to the Storey Arms area this challenging route takes in a figure of eight summitting 10 peaks, including Pen Y Fan, the highest in South Wales.
Even if you're a complete novice to hill walking, walk in confidence knowing that you will receive the highest quality of safety cover,
experienced marshals, radio communications, challenge base, pre-walk briefings, information materials including an on-line resource detailing a 6 week
training programme giving advice on nutrition, exercises, fundraising and more. Everyone will receive a certificate to mark their outstanding achievement!
